A slaughterhouse carcass was used to attract the vultures.<br /> I took a series of flying photos on the grasslands of the Rhodope Mountains near Madzharovo during my spring photo expedition to the Balkans. A small population of vultures lives here, including the rare Egyptian vulture. The main aim of the expedition was mainly to observe and shoot vultures daily. Interesting interactions between species occurred during photography. In this photo, I captured two ravens in a duel with kite. Both ravens attack the kite and drive it away from prey. The kite was still running away from the raven, but he didn't want to drop his prey. This “air battle” lasted for several seconds and the birds flew several circuits. It is an interesting interaction because a smaller raven dared to attack a large bird of prey like the kite.
